The 18th January saw the start of the Colleges Cross Country Championship and as usual the Kerry part of the journey was held in the demesne in Killarney. In the junior girls Helena O’Sullivan was 1st and Mikalea Mulcahy 4th. The junior girls also won team gold with the help of Aicha Van Deale, Mary Theresa Burns, Stephanie Burns and Saoirse Hayes. In the minor girls Laura Hallissey was 1st, Clodagh Quinlan 5th and Cloe Hawker 6th. In the boys races Denis Cronin was 9th in the minors, Daniel Hawker was 5th in the intermediate and Aidan Quinlan was 5th in the senior race.
Less than 2 weeks later on January 27th the South Munster Colleges Cross Country was held at CIT. In the junior girls Helena O’Sullivan was 3rd, Mikaela Mulcahy 10th and Aicah Van Deale 34th to give them 4th team prize. In the minor girls Laura Hallissey was 1st, Cloddagh Quinlan 4th and Chloe Hawker 6th to take the gold team prize.
On 9th February the girls were back at CIT for the Munster colleges cross country. In junior girls Helena O’Sullivan was 12th and Mikalea Mulcahy 16th and the team were 5th overall. In minor girls Laura Hallissey was 5th and bronze team medal winner along with team mates Clodagh Quinlan and Chloe Hawker. All 5 girls now go on to the All-Ireland’s in March.
