Kenmare had a great turn out at the Kerry Community Games finals in Castleisland with a record number of young athletes (many of whom were competing on the track for the very first time) getting through the heats on Saturday to compete in the semi finals and finals on Sunday.
Three athletes took gold and go on to represent Kerry in the National Finals in August. They are Cara Daly, U13 girls 900m walk; Helena O’Sullivan, U12 girls 600m and Aodhán Coakley, U15 boys long jump.
Silver medals were awarded to Eve Roberts White, U8 girls 80m; Cian O’Sullivan, U10 boys 100m; Donal O’Sullivan, U12 boys 100m and Laura Hallissey, U14 girls 800m. Donal was a year out of age which bodes well for him next year!
